PNG → JPGPNG to JPGPNG to JPG is one of the most common conversions, usually done to shrink large screenshots, design exports, or photo edits before emailing them, uploading to a website, or printing. Because PNG is lossless and JPG is lossy, the resulting JPG is typically 5–10× smaller — a 4 MB PNG screenshot often drops below 500 KB. The trade-off is that JPG does not support transparency: any transparent background becomes solid white when you convert. JPG also re-encodes pixel data, so very thin lines, monochrome graphics, and screenshots with text edges can show subtle compression artifacts. For photographs, the visual difference at quality 85+ is almost invisible. If you need transparency or pixel-perfect graphics, convert to WebP instead. If file size is the only concern and the source is a photo, JPG at quality 85 is usually the right answer.HEIC → JPGHEIC to JPGHEIC is the default photo format on every iPhone since iOS 11 and on many newer Android phones. It produces excellent compression — typically half the file size of JPG at similar quality — but it is not supported by Windows out-of-the-box, by older email clients, by most websites' upload widgets, or by many image editors. Converting HEIC to JPG is the universal "make it work everywhere" choice when you transfer iPhone photos to a PC, attach them to email, post them on forums, or submit them through online forms that reject .heic uploads. Our converter decodes HEIC locally in the browser using a WebAssembly build of libheif — your photos never leave your device, which matters for portraits, ID scans, screenshots of bank apps, or any photo you would not upload to an unknown server. Expect the resulting JPG to be roughly 1.5–2× larger than the original HEIC at quality 90.WEBP → PNGWEBP to PNGWebP to PNG is the typical "compatibility fix" conversion: you have a WebP image but the destination won't accept it. Common cases: pasting into older versions of Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, uploading to a CMS that pre-dates WebP support, importing into legacy photo editors, or submitting a file through a government or banking portal that whitelists only .png and .jpg. Note that PNG is lossless, so the resulting file is usually 2–4× larger than the WebP source — a 200 KB WebP can become a 600 KB PNG. If the WebP source had transparency, it is preserved in the PNG. If it was a photo (lossy WebP), converting to PNG re-encodes it without further loss but also without recovering any detail lost during the original WebP compression. For sharing photos online, WebP → JPG usually makes more sense than WebP → PNG.
