Optimizing Images for X, LinkedIn and Pinterest in 2026

X, LinkedIn and Pinterest serve very different audiences and use images in distinct ways. A single export rarely looks optimal on all three. Smart creators maintain a simple workflow that produces platform-specific versions from one master file without spending hours on repetitive tasks.

The effort pays off. Images that are properly sized and compressed for each platform load faster, look more professional and receive better engagement than generic uploads that the platform has to resize on the fly.

X (Twitter) image best practices

X displays images at a maximum width of 1200 pixels in the timeline. Prepare images at 1200 × 675 pixels for landscape or 1200 × 1500 pixels for portrait to avoid awkward cropping. The platform is relatively forgiving with aspect ratios but rewards images that fill the available space without excessive letterboxing.

For link previews, X uses a 2:1 ratio (1200 × 600). If you share links frequently, prepare a dedicated version at this size with clear branding and readable text at small sizes.

LinkedIn post and article images

LinkedIn feed images perform best at 1200 × 627 pixels (approximately 1.91:1). This ratio works well for both desktop and mobile. For articles and documents, LinkedIn generates its own preview, but custom images uploaded with posts should follow the same dimensions for consistency.

Professional audiences on LinkedIn notice low-quality or heavily compressed images more than casual platforms. Export at quality 90+ and avoid aggressive compression that introduces artifacts around text or logos.

Pinterest pin dimensions and vertical strategy

Pinterest strongly favors tall, vertical images. The ideal pin ratio is 2:3 or taller (1000 × 1500 pixels minimum, up to 2000 pixels tall). Vertical pins get more screen real estate in the feed and perform significantly better than square or horizontal pins in most categories.

Leave generous margins around text and important elements. Pinterest applies its own cropping and scaling, and text too close to edges often gets cut off in grid views. Our resize tool makes it easy to create tall, optimized pins from horizontal source images.
